well, you see, katie is my favorite character currently on degrassi. i’m not asking anyone else to like her, but she is. i think she’s a very well-written character and much more realistic than any of the previous “type a” girls we’ve had. she’s driven by her own low self-esteem and is somewhat subservient to her best friend because of this. i’m not justifying the way she acted toward imogen but i really like the character, and hey, guess what? everyone makes mistakes and you’re bound to forgive your favorite character for that. bianca fans forgive bianca for sucking drew’s dick in the boiler room while he had a girlfriend, owen fans forgive owen for sexually harassing anya and being extremely homophobic and transphobic, eli fans forgive eli for being manipulative and borderline abusive to clare. in the same way, i’m forgiving katie for turning on fiona in what i think was an action spurred by marisol, because i have faith that she’ll redeem herself. didn’t spinner redeem himself for being a homophobic asshole to marco? he’s one of the most loved characters that was ever on degrassi. i don’t really care anyone else’s opinion on her, because she’s always going to be one of the most well-developed characters the writers have put out, in my eyes. katie is awesome. that’s all.
